1. Brief description

The object Inventory (Push) models an active parts buffer for workpiece carriers. Parts are picked up in carriers and further processed with this transfer unit (a part removal from workpiece carriers does not take place).

Depending on product-specific parameters, the workpiece carriers are either forwarded as soon as a certain quantity of parts or as soon as a minimum storage time per part has been reached.

(For passive part buffering with part removal for order-controlled processes, see Inventory).

2. Procedure and control description

An Inventory receives products on a workpiece carrier, the parts are not removed, incoming workpiece carriers correspond to the storage unit.

For each product, either a minimum number of parts or a minimum storage time of parts is defined according to which criterion the parts are passed on.

Workpiece carriers are buffered per product type until the passing-on criterion is reached and the workpiece carriers are passed on to an exit buffer. An actual exit depends on the holding capacity of the subsequent modules.

Process Parameter

Required

Description

Name

no

Name of the object

Products

no

Products of the object

Exit strategy

yes

Logic according to which the products leave the object.

Available modes:

Cyclic (blocking):

To move the parts cyclically to the next successor in line. But this is a blocking strategy, that is when a part has to be transferred to station 3 then the upstream process waits until station 3 is available for processing. Until then the upstream process will wait and be blocked.

Start with successor 1:

To always move the part to successor with the number 1. It only takes the other successors into consideration when this is not possible.

First free successor:

To always move the part to successor which is free and is available for processing the parts.
