Swim lanes

Swim lanes are horizontal, combined lines for storage media and (organizational) usage units. Each line represents either a storage medium (such as paper or SAP system) or an (organizational) usage unit (usage).

A swim lane can have directed connections with a process object or a supermarket object (both directions).

The link between the value stream object and the horizontal swim lane is made using vertical arrows.

Depending on the X position of the value stream object, the arrows form a corresponding perpendicular to the horizontal swim lane of the transfer medium.

In addition to the categorization into different swim lanes, the transmission content is also classified. Different information categories of a value stream object can have a connection to a swim lane.

The information categories are arranged vertically below the value stream object.

There is always a link between the value stream object and the swim lane between the swim lane characteristic and an information category for each value stream object.

The vertical arrows are also arranged according to the position of the information category for each value stream object (see Figure 1).

All attributes of an information category can be edited. Details can be found in the chapter Object attributes.

Figure 1 shows an overview of a value stream. Hold down the mouse button to move the entire area (2) as desired.

You can also zoom in on the modeling area by holding down the [CTRL] key and moving the mouse wheel.

Note:

The value of the information categories is initially logically separated from the previous object parameters, that is, there is no information or value transfer between object attributes and information categories that may have the same name.
